Replacing your old computer with a new one consists of two steps: moving your data to the new computer, and installing your software on your new computer.
Please note that you should copy the data before installing the software. If you have installed the software already, follow the steps below, reinstalling the software in step 3. This will ensure all your data is correctly updated.
Moving Your Data
1. Find the folders you need on your existing hard drive. By default, they are on the root of your C: drive (i.e. you should see them when you open your C: drive).
a. If you use Appraise-It Pro, or Appraise-It Pro and Apex Medina, find the TRADATA folder on your hard drive.
b. If you want to retain old Sketch-It sketches for importing into Apex Medina find the ApexData folder within Tradata or if you're using Sketch-It 3.0, find the SMSDATA folder within Tradata.
2. Copy the folder(s) from step 1 to your new computer's hard drive. Generally, you would use a USB flash drive or external hard drive of sufficient capacity to move them from the existing computer to the new computer.
a. Select the folder(s) from step 1. You can select multiple folders at once by holding down the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard while clicking the folders.
b. Right-click on (one of) the selected folder(s) and select Copy.
c. Open your flash drive or external hard drive, right-click in an empty area, and select Paste.
d. When the copy job is complete, move the drive to your new computer.
e. Open the drive and select the folder(s) from step 2a, then right-click on (one of) the folder(s) and select Copy.
f. Open your new computer's hard drive, right-click in an empty area, and select Paste. When the copy job is complete, continue to "Installing Your Software".
Installing Your Software
1. Download and run the necessary software installer(s) from www.sfrep.com/downloads. After entering your customer ID, you will see a list of available software.
a. Click on the Appraise-It Pro installer link. When prompted, save it to your desktop.
b. Run the installation file.
c. During the installation, we recommend you use the default settings. Click Next when prompted, and Finish when the install completes.
d. Repeat the above steps for Apex.
2. Register your software.
a. If you've moved all of the appropriate folders to the new machine, Appraise-It Pro should automatically register the first time you open it.
b. For instructions on registering Apex Medina, click here.
Your software and data are now functional on your new computer.
