Why am I getting a Fundamental Error in Track-It Plus?

When using Track-It Plus, you may receive an error stating "Fundamental Error: The file Z:\TOMDATA\Office.mdb containing your tracking records could not be found", where "Z" is the drive where your database is stored.

This error indicates Track-It Plus is unable to access your records database.

Standalone Install
If you are not running Track-It Plus on a network, there may be issues with the Windows file permissions on your database. Contact Technical Support for assistance.

Network Install
If you are running Track-It Plus on a network, the client computer may have lost contact with the server.

1. Go to My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista/7/8).
2. Locate your server's mapped network drive.

  • The letter of the drive will match the letter in the Fundamental Error file path.
  • The drive icon may have a red X, indicating a lost connection.

3. Double-click on the mapped network drive.

If a window opens displaying the contents of the mapped network drive, close the window. The network connection has been restored, and you should be able to use Track-It Plus normally.

If you receive an error message or are otherwise unable to access the mapped network drive, restart your computer and try again.

If you are still unable to access the mapped network drive, contact a local technician to assist in diagnosing and correcting your network error(s).
