How do I add exceptions to Norton antivirus products?

Oftentimes Norton and Symantec products misidentify legitimate programs as security threats. Follow the steps below to prevent Norton and Symantec products from doing so. If you have trouble following these instructions, contact Norton or Symantec technical support. Their technicians may ask for certain information about Appraise-It, provided below.

Program Folder: C:\TRA
Program File: C:\TRA\TRA32\TRA.EXE

Norton 360
Note: If Norton 360 has quarantined Appraise-It, please refer to this FAQ for instructions on restoring it.

1. Open Norton 360.
2. Click the Options icon, then click Antivirus
3. Go to the Scans and Risks tab, then scroll to the bottom.
4. Click Configure [+] next to "Items to Exclude from Scans".
5. Click Add, then enter "C:\TRA" for the exception location and check Include Subfolders, then click OK, then click OK.
6. Click Configure [+] next to "Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect and SONAR Detection".
7. Click Add, then enter "C:\TRA" for the exception location and check Include Subfolders, then click OK, then click OK.
8. Click Apply, then OK.
9. If you still cannot access Appraise-It, reinstall Appraise-It

Norton 360 should now ignore Appraise-It in its security scans. 

Norton Internet Security
1. Open Norton Internet Security.
2. Click Settings, then click Antivirus and SONAR Exclusions in the menu pane on the left.
3. Click Configure [+] next to "Items to Exclude from Scans".
4. Click Add, then enter "C:\TRA" for the exception location and check Include Subfolders, then click OK, then click OK.
5. Click Configure [+] next to "Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect, SONAR and Download Intelligence Protection".
6. Click Add, then enter "C:\TRA" for the exception location and check Include Subfolders, then click OK, then click OK.
7. Click OK, then close Norton Internet Security.
8. If you still cannot access Appraise-It, reinstall Appraise-It

Norton Internet Security should now ignore Appraise-It in its security scans.

Symantec Endpoint Protection
1. Open Symantec Endpoint Protection.
2. Browse to the Exceptions Policy page, then click Exceptions.
3. Click Add, then click Windows Exceptions, then click Folder.
4. Select [NONE] in the Prefix variable dropdown.
5. Enter "C:\TRA" in the File or Folder text box.
6. Select All next to "Specify the type of scan that excludes this folder".
7. Click OK, then close Symantec Endpoint Protection.
8. If you still cannot access Appraise-It, reinstall Appraise-It

Symantec Endpoint Protection should now ignore Appraise-It in its security scans.
