Why am I getting a File Lock error?

When saving a report, you may receive an error stating "The file has been locked by another user so the selection operation has been denied."

This indicates that Appraise-It has lost its system lock on your report file. Normally, this lock exists to prevent multiple users from attempting to make changes to the same file at the same time, overwriting each others' work. In this case, Appraise-It no longer has this lock in place, and so assumes that someone else is working in the file, and prevents you from overwriting 'their' work.

1. Verify that you truly are the only person on your network with the report file open.
2. Go to FileSave As.
3. Click Save. Do not change the file name (which should be the current file name).
4. You should be prompted to overwrite the existing file; click Yes.
5. The report file has been saved. Close and reopen Appraise-It and your report; this will re-establish Appraise-It's system lock on the file, allowing you to continue your work.

If you receive an error in step 4 preventing you from overwriting the file, return to step 1, and specify a new file name in step 3.
