How do I create 'negative' stairs in Sketch-It?

To draw an area (such as a stairway) and make Sketch-It adjust the square footage of the living area to compensate for this non-living area, follow the steps below:

1. Draw the initial living area (first floor, second floor, etc).
2. Go to CreateAreas.
3. In the CATEGORY drop-down, select "Living Area".
4. In the AREA NAME drop-down, enter "Stairs" or similar.
5. In the POST TO drop-down, select "1".
6. Select Negative.
7. If desired, select a FILL TYPE.

8. Click Create and draw the area.

When you transfer the sketch back to Appraise-It, the square footage will be adjusted accordingly.
