Why am I receiving an installer/updater error?

When opening Appraise-It after upgrading to the latest version, you may see one of several different errors:

"Installer data could not be found in data directory."

"The installer.zip could not be found."

"Your networked data folder is currently being updated by user [name] on the networked computer [name]. This process needs to be completed before you can use [name]. Please wait a few moments and then press Retry to continue." (Waiting and clicking Retry does nothing, and you are either not on a network or there is no one else in Appraise-It.)

"Incompatible version detected. Your Appraise-It installation needs to be updated. Your software must be updated to access the shared data directory on your network."

To resolve the issue causing these errors, follow these steps.

Standalone Installation
1. Browse to C:\TRADATA folder.
2. Locate the version.ini file and delete it.
3. Re-open Appraise-It.

You can now continue your work in the latest version of Appraise-It.

Networked Installation
1. Close Appraise-It on all computers on the network.
2. Browse to the TRADATA folder on the server.
3. Locate the version.ini file and delete it.
4. Open Appraise-It on only one of the networked computers.

Once Appraise-It successfully opens on the first computer, the server has updated. You can then open Appraise-It on the other networked computers and continue working.
