Why is Street Maps timing out when I try to open it?

This is most often caused by an incorrect or corrupt Microsoft Silverlight install. Silverlight is a framework which Microsoft's Bing mapping service requires, so Street Maps requires it as well. Take the following steps to re-install Appraise-It and Silverlight.

Automated
1. Download and run this .exe file. If prompted, click Yes; when the process finishes, click OK.
2. Download and run this .exe file. When prompted, click Next; when the process finishes, click Finish.

If Street Maps now opens and runs correctly, your problem has been resolved. If you are still receiving errors, please contact Technical Support for further assistance.

Manual
1. Perform a clean reinstall of Appraise-It.
2. Open your list of installed software.

  • In Windows XP, go to Start ⇨ Control Panel ⇨ Add/Remove Programs.
  • In Windows Vista or Windows 7, go to Start ⇨ Control Panel ⇨ Programs and Features.
  • In Windows 8, go to the Start screen and type "programs and features", then hit "Enter".
  • In Windows 10, click the Windows icon on your toolbar, click on the "cog" icon to bring up Settings.  Type Control Panel in the search bar at the top of the settings window and click on control panel in the results to open it.  Click on Programs and Features.

3. Once the list of software installed on your computer populates, scroll down and find Microsoft Silverlight. Uninstall it. (If there is more than one, uninstall them all.)
4. Go to the Microsoft Silverlight website and click Install Silverlight, then follow the download and installation prompts (click Run or Yes or OK or Allow, et cetera, when prompted).
5. After the Silverlight installation is complete, return to Appraise-It and attempt to open Street Maps.

If Street Maps now opens and runs correctly, your problem has been resolved. If you are still receiving errors, please contact Technical Support for further assistance.
