How do I run Windows Update?

Windows updates maintain the most recent version of Window's .NET framework,  which is integral to the appraise-it Pro program.  It is very important that you stay up-to-date on current windows updates.

Please Note that Tech Support cannot install these updates for you, and they will need to be maintained personally or through your local technician.

Windows Update requires an active internet connection. Save your work and close your open programs, as updates often require restarting your computer.

Windows XP
Go to StartAll ProgramsWindows Update and follow the prompts. Note that Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft and therefore no longer eligible for updates.

Windows Vista or 7
Go to Start ⇨ All Programs ⇨ Windows Update, then click Check for updates and follow the prompts.  Note that Windows Vista and 7 are no longer supported by Microsoft and therefore no longer eligible for updates.

Windows 8
Go to the Start screen and type "windows update", then click Windows Update, then click Check for updates and follow the prompts.

Windows 10

Open the Start Menu and click on Settings Update & Security Settings ⇨ Windows Update.  Here, press on the Check For Updates button.  If any updates are available, they will be offered to you.

 

Please note: As of April 8, 2014, Microsoft has ended support for Windows XP and it no longer receives security updates. On April 11, 2017, Microsoft is ending support for Windows Vista and it will no longer recieve security updates.

Please note: As of January 14th, 2021, Microsoft has ended support for Windows 7. On May 1st, It will end the Security Updates.  At this point, SFREP will be unable to update on Windows 7.
